Greg Kirby is a Member with PK Law and is part of the firm’s Medical Malpractice Defense Group. He has 15 years of experience concentrating his practice in all aspects of civil litigation with a focus on medical malpractice, insurance defense, and product and pharmaceutical liability. Mr. Kirby practices in all of the Maryland state and federal courts and the District of Columbia and assists clients in actions with the Maryland state professional licensing Boards.
With a B.S. in Biology/Pre-Med and a minor in Chemistry in addition to his J.D., Mr. Kirby is uniquely qualified to represent physicians, dentists, nurses, physician assistants, psychologists, pharmacists, hospitals, physician practices, nursing homes, and long term care facilities in all types of medical malpractice defense matters that range from the relatively simple to the high-stakes and highly complex. He also has extensive experience with multidistrict litigation, mass actions, and pharmaceutical liability.
Recently, Mr. Kirby assisted in getting over 30 separate alleged medical malpractice actions in a multidistrict litigation dismissed against a health care provider client with no settlement paid. The cases involved contaminated injectable steroids that caused alleged severe illness in patients and resulted in death in a small number of patients due to the actions of a third party national pharmacy.
Mr. Kirby is well known throughout Maryland for his involvement in the community, the Maryland State Bar Association, and the Bar Association of Baltimore City of which he was President in 2016-2017. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the St. Agnes Hospital Foundation and as an officer for the Maryland-DC Chapter of the Society for Healthcare Risk Management. In his free time, Mr. Kirby is an avid Baltimore Ravens and Orioles fan and enjoys playing sports, traveling, hiking, and spending time with his family. He is particularly proud of his long-standing involvement as a youth sports coach in Catonsville, Maryland, where he is blessed with the opportunity to positively impact the lives of countless young people in the community.
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Kirby was a software engineer for Siemens Medical Solutions, a global healthcare solutions company, where he coded Health Information System computer applications for hospitals and physician practices. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law and served as a judicial law clerk in the Circuit Court for Talbot County, Maryland, before entering private practice. Prior to joining PK Law, Mr. Kirby had a civil litigation practice in Baltimore and Annapolis, Maryland.
