Ms. Battaglia rose in Pessin Katz Law from being an associate attorney, to then being elected a Member and has now achieved the firm’s highest rank, Equity Member,  heading up the firm’s well-known and distinguished Elder Law Practice. Ms. Battaglia has demonstrated significant knowledge and expertise in the elder law field and has built an excellent reputation in the community as being a strong advocate for her clients.  While working to protect her client’s assets from the costs of long term care, Ms. Battaglia has maintained good working relationships with the numerous assisted living facilities and nursing homes.  She has built a significant law practice by effectively representing and protecting her clients’ interests before local Department of Social Services agencies throughout the State to obtain Medical Assistance (Medicaid).

She has extensive experience with preparing Trusts, Wills, Powers of Attorney, Advanced Health Care Directives, Deeds and Care Management Agreements so that they are most effective in the elder law practice.  Ms. Battaglia has also distinguished herself in representing many domestic partners in the preparation of their estate planning documents.

Ms. Battaglia began her career at Pessin Katz Law in the corporate department and transitioned to the Wealth Preservation department while attending law school at the University of Baltimore in the evenings, obtaining her Juris Doctorate, in 2002.  She has recently joined the faculty at the University of Baltimore School of Law where she is an adjunct professor teaching Elder Law.

“Kim has been a valuable member of Pessin Katz Law since she first began her career here,” states Kevin F. Bress, a PK Law Managing Member and head of the Estate Planning and Elder Law Group.  “She is very well respected among the Baltimore area’s estate planning and elder law legal community and well liked by the attorneys, paralegals and other support personnel in the firm.  She works hard for her clients and it is clear she cares about them.  I am proud to have her as a fellow Pessin Katz Law Member.”
