Margaret (Meg) M. McKee, a professional with over 30 years of diversified legal experience, has joined Pessin Katz Law, P.A. (PK Law) as Of Counsel. Formerly a Principal with Proctor & McKee, P.A., a boutique law firm where she practiced for over 20 years, Ms. McKee will concentrate in the areas of commercial litigation, business dispute resolution, appeals and general litigation matters.

Ms. McKee’s recent move comes as Proctor & McKee starts to unwind following her former partner, Donald Proctor’s, announcement of his intention to retire.  About her recent association with PK Law, Ms. McKee said, “This next career chapter with PK Law gives me the opportunity to leverage the experience of professionals working in many different practice areas to benefit my clients, who often need more than litigation counsel, and who previously would have been outsourced to other practitioners. I am looking forward to lending my expertise and insights to help the firm, and to receiving valuable guidance and assistance from such a diverse and experienced group of professionals. I find the spirit of cooperation and camaraderie pervasive throughout PK Law and believe that atmosphere encourages professionals to achieve their highest quality of work.”

“Meg is an extremely accomplished trial lawyer and PK Law is very fortunate to have her,” said Don Proctor, who practiced with her for over 20 years at Proctor & McKee, the Towson firm he founded in 1997 after serving in various leadership roles at Miles & Stockbridge.  “She has broad jury, non-jury and ADR experience in a wide range of complex cases, including commercial, real estate, corporate, estate and personal injury litigation. Meg has wonderful interpersonal skills with judges, lawyers and clients alike and combines attention to detail with the ability to quickly produce a result. Because of these skills, over the many years we practiced together I made sure we worked together on virtually every matter we took on.”

Ms. McKee graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and earned her law degree from the University of Baltimore. She currently serves on the Maryland State Bar Association Board of Governors and Executive Committee and is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, the Maryland Bar Foundation and the Litigation Counsel of America. She has an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell and has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers since 2016. Ms. McKee is the Vice President of the Baltimore Carroll Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association and has served on its Board since 2013.  She also co-chairs the Laws Committee of the MSBA.

“Meg’s addition continues the influx of depth that has strengthened several existing practice areas at the firm this year,” explained Drake Zaharris, Managing Director of PK Law.  “She is widely respected in the law profession and highly-regarded as a hard-working professional with excellent analytical and communication skills. After thriving at a boutique law firm for many years, we believe the level of resources available to her at PK Law will be a major asset to her practice.”

This spring, PK Law added experienced litigation and trial attorney Paul M. Finamore as Member, as well as his colleagues John Doran and Bethany Neeb as Associates. The firm also entered into a business relationship with Hopkins IP, LLC to provide legal services focused on      intellectual property matters to PK Law clients. Julie A. Hopkins formed the intellectual property boutique law firm last year and she brings more than 15 years of direct experience handling trademark, copyright, trade secret and unfair competition matters.
