Congratulations to Les Stellman, PK Law Member and Co-Head of the firm’s  Labor and Education Group.  Mr. Stellman represented Baltimore City Public Schools in a case that was dismissed by Judge Motz in a ruling issued on June 16, 2014.

The case is a major victory for the school system.  The case involved a difficult McKinney-Vento class action suit brought in federal court by the Public Justice Center and Zuckerman Spaeder.  Not only were the class claims dismissed, but Judge Motz states he is inclined to administratively close the case pending exhaustion of individual administrative remedies.

As part of his ruling, Judge Motz noted that he was “disappointed” with the Public Justice Center in this case.  This decision will save the Baltimore City Public Schools at least several hundred thousand dollars in litigation costs and legal fees – money that could be better spent in the classroom.
