Pessin Katz Law, P.A., (PK Law), Member Mark Scurti has been chosen the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service Volunteer of the Year for 2011. This award recognizes a volunteer who has contributed the most to futhering pro bono services to MVLS clients through individual representation or has otherwise expanded pro bono services. Mr. Scurti was unanimously selected based on his significant training and volunteer contributions, including his substantial efforts to make the recent MVLS 30th Anniversary Benefit a success.

Mr. Scurti is a member of PK Law’s Corporate and Business Services Group. He primarily practices bankruptcy. He also practices same-sex/lgbt law. He received his law degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law and holds a B.A. in Marketing/ Business and an M.B.A. from Loyola College in Maryland. He is admitted to the Maryland Bar, the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the District of Columbia and U.S. Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, the U.S. Supreme Court, and the U.S. Tax Court.

Mr. Scurti has been an active member of many professional organizations, including the Maryland State Bar Association, the Bar Association of Baltimore City, of which he was President, the Maryland Lesbian & Gay Association, and the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland.

There will be a recognition reception honoring Mr. Scurti, along with other exceptional MVLS volunteers and student interns at the “Celebrate Pro Bono” reception on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Westminister Hall, 519 W. Fayette Street, Baltimore.
