PK Law’s Medical Malpractice Defense Group has been steadily growing since four core members of the group merged into the firm from a large Baltimore firm. The group currently has 12 lawyers, two of which were practicing nurses prior to obtaining their law degrees, and four paralegals. The Group is one of the largest and acclaimed medical malpractice defense teams in the region. The Group has extensive trial experience representing health care providers in complex medical negligence and personal injury actions in Maryland’s state, federal and appellate courts, as well as in administrative hearings for disciplinary proceedings before the various licensing boards. In an effort to help clients avoid contentious and costly litigation, the Group also provides risk management advice to medical professionals, their practice groups, and health care facilities and takes an active role in early resolution of matters where warranted.
The Group represents large institutional clients such as the Johns Hopkins University, the Johns Hopkins Health System, the University of Maryland Medical System, and Mercy Health Services, Inc., as well as medical malpractice insurance carriers including The Medical Protective Company and The Doctors Company. The firm also represents a regional chain of urgent care centers, Patient First.
