Rochelle’s Special Education Tips

Every school system should keep an up-to-date list on where parents can obtain Independent Educational Evaluations (“IEEs”). On an annual basis, find out what private assessors are charging so that you can provide that information to the parents when they seek an IEE. The school system’s written IEE criteria should include that parents provide the complete evaluation report by a date certain. State that payment is conditioned on the entire report being provided to the IEP team or else the parent must reimburse the school system. You should get what you pay for.
